of the last week left us to return to Brussels. We had spent some very pleasant hours together & parted with regret. Mr Leyburn had been very useful to me in restraining the curiosity of the ladies from fatiguing themselves beyond their strength and in curtailing the fees to lion shewers. His wife is an agreeable woman, his sister Mrs Hare, a ditto with some amusing romance. We exchanged cards & cordial invitations; his residence is at No 1 Regent’s Place east, Regent square, Foundling – his office Admiralty, Somerset House.

The diligence to Namur took us up here & we journeyed in company with a very pretty & pleasant girl & 2 stupid Englishmen. Diligence travelling would to me be very irksome but for books & sleep these enable me to pass away the hours very pleasantly.
