We are at a very favourite inn of mine, the Hotel d’Harscamp at Namur, where the Salle a manger is good, the service of the table is good & of the servants good.

Inglis’ magpie still hops about the garden.

This is a town after my own heart, it is compassable, being small, of 20,000 inhabts only, having novelties in its manufacture of cutlery, a nice gay yet antiquated appearance, 2 rivers, 2 bridges, whence beautiful views & a fortress wonderfully imposing & often visible at the end of the different streets. Two churches we visited but their services were not for our understandings. Much confessing was going forward, & many long rows of old women & young girls were waiting. Query, is this a very sinful place, or are its sinners very scrupulous. Hogg has some diverting observations on this subject.
