TUES. AUGUST 1 Shopping has evidently more charms for our ladies than lionising; and thus they can I imagine speak of little but the general appearance of the town. Our hotel, de la Pommelette, was a so-so one, but adjoined the diligence office; so much the worse for Mrs Joy who slept not at all, for us its proximity was convenient.
Our ride to Aix la Chapelle today was a beautiful one for the road keeps almost invariably on the top of the hills overlooking the Valley of the Vesdre, which looks cheerful and varied. The streets
