Excursions by coach will depart from outside the Taylorian Institute in St. Giles, Oxford, at the time stated, and pick up at the Park and Ride specified 15 minutes later. Please apply in writing, sending a separate cheque for each excursion, to Dr Peter Hacking, 47 Main Road, Long Hanborough, Witney OX29 8BD by the date given and state where you will join the coach or whether you wish to make your own travel arrangements. Applications will be acknowledged so please give your name, address and phone number. The advertised price includes a non-refundable booking charge of £2.

Friday 25 April: Hook Norton Brewery and the Rollright Stones.  

Applications by 11 April.

A Victorian tower brewery on six levels, powered by steam - an exhibition site.  Caution: steep stone staircases so you must wear closed shoes; NOT for the immobile.  Visit ends with beer tasting and gift of souvenir mug.  There are three hostelries in the village for lunch. George Lambrick will introduce the Rollrights visit. Tea with the WI at Stonesfield.  There is a limit of 30 persons. 

Coach departs 9.30am; Pear Tree Park & Ride 9.45am; return by 6.30pm.

Tuesday 20 May: Kingston Bagpuize House.

Applications by 1 May.

The owner, Mrs Virginia Grant, will introduce us to the "elegant, red brick house of 1660's, remodelled in early 1700's with decor and furnishings of various periods since" including fine baroque staircase and library.   Grounds with gardens and notable arboretum; gift shop and plant sales.

Guided tour at 2pm in groups followed by tea – we are the only visitors.

Coach departs 1.00pm; Redbridge Park & Ride 1.20pm; return by 6.30pm.

Saturday 21 June: Welford Park nr. Newbury.

Applications by 7 June.

House was built c.1652 and remodelled later.  Walks are invited in the gardens where the river Lambourne flows.  The church serving the parish has good brasses and rare round tower.  Guided tour of house at 2.30pm then an 'ample English afternoon tea'. Name + address need to be given for owner's insurance cover.

Coach departs 12.30pm; Redbridge Park & Ride 12.50pm; return by 6.30pm.

Saturday 19 July: Cirencester, and Woodchester Mansion at Nymphsfield, Glos.

Applications by 4th July

Choice of the Corinium Museum (£3 entrance) - Roman, Anglo Saxon galleries - or other attractions in Cirencester with lunch at leisure. Then the unfinished Victorian mansion of Woodchester, a Gothic masterpiece; NB uneven floors and can be cold. It is a centre for stone carving with practical courses. Guided tour at 2.00pm then tea on site.

Coach departs 9.30am; Seacourt Park & Ride 9.50am; return by 6.30 pm.

Wednesday 13th August: Stanway House near Cheltenham.

“... superb Elizabethan house and related manorial buildings"; gatehouse is claimed as one of finest pieces of Cotswold architecture, exceptional Great Hall with raised dais.  Cascade and fountain in the grounds. Guided tour at 2.00pm with tea on site.

Saturday 20 September: Broughton Castle.

A medieval manor house transformed into a Tudor mansion with moat and parkland.  Noteworthy in the Civil Wars with displays of arms and armoury; there is a fine walled formal garden.  Guided tour at 2.00pm then tea on site.
