The Society is active in the conservation of historic buildings through its Listed Buildings Sub-Committee and its Victorian Group. We are agents for the CBA who are statutory consultees in all cases that involve demolition of a listed building.
The LBC (originally the Old Houses committee) has case workers in each of the five districts of Oxfordshire. Case workers receive details of applications for Listed Building consent from CBA; they usually visit the property in question and based on their findings the committee submits a report to the district council. Most case workers also monitor applications listed by the districts.
The Victorian Group is particularly concerned with Victorian and post-Victorian buildings in Oxford and especially in the North Oxford conservation area.
